Colonial Craft Day at Elmwood

Elmwood School went back in time over 200 years ago to the Colonial era. As part of a yearly event called Colonial Crafts Day, third grade students have an opportunity to gain an understanding of what life was like for children their age back then, not through a textbook, but by doing activities that children did during that time period.

Many of the students, along with teachers and parent volunteers, were dressed in their Colonial best for the day as they went through a series of different activities commonly done in Colonial times including making corn husk dolls, stenciling designs on paper, rug braiding, tin punching, as well as playing games.

Host Parents for International Students Needed

Hopkinton High School needs host parents for its international student program. Next year will be the fourth year of the program. It has helped make our families, our school and Hopkinton more global and it funds extra high school monogramming, including the mandarin world language program.

Hosting is available to all adults with or without children living and/or working in Hopkinton. People host for a variety of reasons. Most want the cultural richness and human connection they give and receive by opening their homes and their lives to international teenagers.
