WAF Exhibit: February 12 - March 8, 2013
Collaborative Creation Art Hanging & Reception: March 8, 7:00 - 8:30 p.m.

On February 8, 2013, the HCA will sponsor an artist’s workshop led by Kris Waldman, visual artist and artistic director of the HCA; and Catherine Weber, writer and visual artist. The workshop will bring together visual artists and writers to inspire each other to create new work. All artists – male and female - are invited to participate, regardless of the level of their artistic development. Our main goal is to have fun while exploring our creativity.
There is no charge for the workshop, but the HCA requires that participants in this workshop/art exhibit be Members. To become a
Member, go to www.hopartscenter.org/membership. Kindly RSVP by February 5 by calling Kris at 508.435.9222 or emailing
email@example.com, typing “workshop” in the subject line. Please let us know how many are attending and if you are visual artists or writers.
The Workshop Process
We encourage all participants to bring with them 1 - 2 pieces of their visual art or writing. These will be our springboards for creation and will be displayed in the gallery February 12 - 28, 2013. The pieces we create in the Workshop will be displayed March 8 - March 21, 2013. Please see below for specifics.
All 2D media will be accepted, including photography, and 3D work if it can be hung on the wall and does not protrude more than 10 inches. Maximum height and width, 40 inches; all work must be wired. No sawtooth hangers or sandwich frames. Kindly download and print this entry form and attach it to the back of your artworks. (Forms will also be available at the HCA.) We will have art making supplies available, but if you wish to bring your own favorite supplies, please do!
Please bring with you on February 8:
Please bring a very short written piece (no longer than 10 lines) or excerpt a phrase, paragraph or several lines of poetry from a larger work. Identify the piece on the back, with your name, work title and indicate whether it is an excerpt. We encourage you to bring the entire work from which you have excerpted for display in the gallery after the workshop.
Please bring with you on February 8:
7:00 - 7:15 Hang your work, grab tea and a goodie, gab.
7:15 - 7:20 Break into 2 groups: those interested in doing visual art, those in writing.
7:20 - 7:30 View the work on the walls around you. Choose a piece that strongly speaks to you.
7:30 - 8:45 Kris Waldman and Catherine Weber will lead each group through a series of fun exercises to explore new ways of approaching art creation.
8:45 - 9:00 Clean up, review the plan for the Opening Reception, announcements, questions.
