Hiersche Selected as Interim Superintendent

The Hopkinton School Committee is pleased to announce that they have selected Dr. Steven Hiersche for the position of Interim Superintendent of Schools for the 2012-2013 school year, pending successful contract negotiations.

Three semi-finalists, who emerged as the result of a screening process conducted by an Interim Superintendent Search Screening Committee, were interviewed by the School Committee over a two-day period (July 9 & July 11, 2012). The interviews of all three semi-finalists were broadcast by Hopkinton’s local cable station, HCAM, and are available for viewing at: www.hcam.tv. Following the interviews and a discussion of all of the semi-finalist candidates, the School Committee unanimously selected Dr. Hiersche as a finalist. Following a comprehensive reference check, as well as a meeting with members of the school district administrative team, Dr. Hiersche was selected.

Nancy Burdick, School Committee Chair, adds, “Dr. Hiersche's experience in budget development, contract negotiations, curriculum alignment with the common core and the educator evaluation system position him well to be the educational leader the district needs this year.”

Pending successful contract negotiations, Dr. Hiersche will assume the Interim Superintendent role as of August 1, 2012.
