Weather Update: Heavy Rains and Potential Flooding

The National Weather Service in Taunton has issued a Flood Watch for central and eastern Massachusetts through Tuesday night. According to the NWS, up to an inch of rain and snow melt may be enough to cause minor flooding of small streams in the watch area. Poor drainage flooding may also occur Tuesday afternoon into the evening and have an impact on the evening commute. Additionally, there is a possibility that the Assabet River might go into minor flood stage late Wednesday. Other larger streams and rivers are expected to experience notable rises but stay within their banks.
See the attached file from the National Weather Service. For additional information, go to the website of the National Weather Service in Taunton (www.weather.gov/boston) or the NWS Advance Hydrologic Prediction Service’s website at http://water.weather.gov/ahps2/forecasts.php?wfo=box for Massachusetts river flooding forecast information.
