Planning Board Hears Proposal for Solar Farm at Fruit Street
The Planning Board and the Sustainable Green Committee met on Monday, September 10 to discuss the possibility of installing above-ground solar panels on the Fruit Street property. The panels would span across 23 acres, including some of the land set aside for low-income housing and market-rate or senior housing. There would be a need for a 20-year land commitment by the town, after which the contract can be renewed in which the panels would stay, or ended and the panels taken down.
