St. Valentine's Day at the Senior Center
After filling the dining room for a lunch of ham with all the trimmings--and cake for dessert-- more than fifty guests at the Senior Center seated themselves right next door for the festivities of St Valentine’s Day. Seniors offered each other greetings and best wishes for the day. The meeting room was decked out for the holiday with table decorations and a selection of sweets for everyone’s delight, all provided by the Friends of the Hopkinton Senior Center.
On hand was Hopkinton resident John Guido who provided the music, specially selected for the seniors.
Seniors enjoyed dancing and exchanging greetings on the dance floor and the first couple to step onto the dance floor were Ruth LeBlanc and John Birri who especially love to dance.
A highlight of the event was the naming of the King and Queen of Hearts. Cindy Chesmore, director of the Senior Center, was named the Queen and Pat Baratta was named the King of Hearts. Gift baskets provided by Project Just Because were awarded as prizes for the Royal Pair.
Baratta also planned to celebrate Valentine’s Day with his wife, saying they planned to go out to dinner. Valentine cards were also a subject of interest and were provided the Hopkinton's Girl Scouts.
