The 26.2 Foundation and the Hopkinton Center for the Arts (HCA) Launch ‘The Start of Something Extraordinary’ to Celebrate the Legacy and Inspiration of the Marathon.
The 26.2 Foundation and the HCA are proud to announce The Start of Something Extraordinary, a dynamic series of initiatives designed to honor the history, legacy, and global impact of the marathon. Rooted in Hopkinton, the starting point of the historic Boston Marathon®, these programs will bring together athletes, artists, and the broader community to celebrate the power of marathoning in unique and inspiring ways.
“The Start of Something Extraordinary is more than a series of events—it’s a celebration of the marathon’s power to inspire, unite, and transform,” said Kim Chisholm, Executive Director at the 26.2 Foundation. “From art and storytelling to education and community connections, these initiatives bring the rich history and enduring spirit of the marathon to life, starting right here in Hopkinton. We’re proud to create experiences that engage the community and honor the legacy of the sport in meaningful and lasting ways.”
This initiative includes several key programs: -Marathon Mural – A vibrant, large-scale artwork created to celebrate the themes of perseverance, community, and inspiration. -Stories and Songs – A unique event where marathoners share their personal journeys, accompanied by live music inspired by their experiences. -Winged Foot Art Exhibition – A celebration of creativity through artwork inspired by the marathon and its deep connection to Hopkinton stART Line Experience -An immersive art and education experience showcasing the history and inspiration behind the marathon start in Hopkinton.
