State Treasurer Deborah B. Goldberg announced the recipients of its Lynn BabySteps Savings Plan Grants. This initiative funds Lynn organizations in the development and execution of outreach strategies, in order to increase enrollment in the BabySteps Savings Plan. BabySteps provides a free $50 deposit when a MEFA U.Fund 529 account is opened within one year of a Massachusetts child’s birth or adoption.

The Hopkinton Parks and Recreation Department in collaboration with the Friends of Hopkinton Skate Park and the Hopkinton Freedom Team, will be hosting several FREE open Skateboard/BMX Jams leading up to the construction/completion of our new Skate Park at EMC park in 2024.

The Hopkinton Public Building Committee in correlation with Abacus Architects & Planners recently hosted a public forum to seek ideas for the community regarding down revitalization in Hopkinton.

Some of the ideas brought to the table included possible uses for Hopkinton Town Hall, Center School, Elmwood School and Fruit Street.

The DPW wishes to remind all Hopkinton residents of By-Laws pertaining to the parking of motor vehicles during the winter months.

Traffic Rules and Orders, Town of Hopkinton, Article lV, Section 8 “It shall be unlawful for the driver of any vehicle, other than for an emergency, to park said vehicle on any street between the hours of 1:00am to 6:00am from November 15 through April 1.

Hopkinton Town Hall and municipal offices (including the Library and the Senior Center) will be closed on Friday Nov 10th in observance of the Veterans Day holiday. The Library will also be closed on Saturday Nov 11th.

The Hopkinton Democratic Town Committee (HDTC) has voted unanimously to endorse the Rideshare Driver Justice Bill (S.666 H.1099) currently before the Massachusetts legislature. The HDTC has expressed their full support for app-based drivers who are fighting for the freedom to unionize, an end to unfair deactivations, living wages for all, and dignity and a voice at work. 

Illegitimate calls are being made claiming to be from the Massachusetts Office of the State Treasurer. The calls state, “you owe money to the Treasury to avoid an arrest for drug possession."

According to Treasurer Goldberg, these calls are a scam and have not been made by Treasury.

The Treasurer and her office want to ensure that no citizen is taken advantage of as part of this scam. The Treasurer’s office does not call people to collect money. If you receive a call like this, please contact the Treasurer’s office immediately at 617-367-6900 to confirm legitimacy.
