James Arond-Thomas, M.D., 80
James Arond-Thomas, M.D., of Hopkinton, MA, a distinguished physician-researcher and dedicated medical practitioner, passed away on September 10, 2024, at age 80. Born in Caroline County, Virginia, he was the son of the late Jeannette (Anderson) and Otto M. Thomas.
James held a Doctorate in Medicine and a Master’s in Pharmacology, underscoring his deep commitment to advancing medical knowledge and patient care. As a medical student at OSU, he won the Borden Award for outstanding research.
Phillip Gradie, 85
Phillip Gradie, 85, passed away at home on August 28, 2024, surrounded by his wife and daughters. He was the husband of Grace (Giardana) Gradie, to whom he was married for 61 years.
Phillip was born on November 5, 1938 to Joseph V. and Lois (O’Hanlon) Gradie in Arlington, MA. He grew up with four siblings. After graduating from Arlington High School, Phillip enlisted in the United States Air Force.
Rose Crettien, 74
Rose Crettien, 74, of Hopkinton MA, died on August 25th at 1:14 AM, surrounded by her loving family after a decade-long battle with Alzheimer’s Disease. She was born October 6th,1949 in Winthrop, MA. She was the daughter of the late Frances Kanegis and Irving Steinberg. She is survived by her devoted husband, Philippe Crettien of 40 years, her daughter, Chloe Crettien of Portland, ME, and her son, Miles Crettien, daughter-in-law, Jennifer Crettien, and grandson, Elijah Crettien of Kingston, NY.
