On Sunday, October 29, the Right Reverend Alan M. Gates will be celebrating the Eucharist at St. Paul’s Episcopal Church, 61 Wood Street, Hopkinton, during the 10:00 a.m. service. Bishop Gates was born in Springfield, Mass. and holds a Master of Divinity degree from the Episcopal Divinity School in Cambridge, Mass. He was ordained to the priesthood in 1988. Prior to the seminary he was a Russian language translator, researcher, and intelligence analyst for the U.S. Department of Defense.
Bishop Gates was ordained and consecrated a bishop on September 13, 2014 and is the 16th bishop of the Diocese of Massachusetts.
