Community Notice: Seasonal Summer Positions – Parks & Recreation

The Town of Hopkinton, Parks and Recreation Department, seeks the following Seasonal Summer Positions.

These programs provide a fun, engaging, and safe environment for residents who enroll. Activities will feature a variety of outdoor and indoor summertime activities for kids.

SEASONAL SUMMER POSITIONS

Counselors, Playground Groups: Counselors will work with the Little Hillers (ages 5-7) or the Junior HIllers (ages 8-12), both programs located at the Elmwood School. Responsibilities include but are not limited to, supervising children, leading activities such as sports, arts & crafts, and themed group events, and ensuring a safe, engaging environment. Counselors will also chaperone participants on weekly off-site field trips. Hourly Pay Range: $15.00 – 16.55*

Head Counselor, Playground Groups: The Head Counselor oversees the organization of activities of the playground groups at the Little Hillers (ages 5–7) or Junior Hillers (ages 8–12), both programs located at the Elmwood School. Responsibilities include supervising counselors, planning and coordinating daily activities, ensuring a safe and engaging environment, and communicating with parents as needed. Head Counselors will also chaperone participants on weekly off-site field trips. Hourly Pay Range: $17.25 – $18.75*

Program Coordinator (Summer): The Summer Program Coordinator oversees the organization, implementation, and supervision of Parks and Recreation summer programs, ensuring a safe and enjoyable experience for participants. This leadership role includes managing program logistics, coordinating daily activities and field trips, and supervising Head Counselors and Summer Counselors. Age 21+ preferred. Hourly Pay Range: $26.20 – $31.45

Parking Lot Attendant: The Parking Lot Attendant is responsible for collecting fees for entrance to Sandy Beach Park. The attendant will also ensure that boaters have a town registration allowing access to the boat launch. The position is located at Sandy Beach Park. Hourly Pay Range: $15.00 – $16.19*

Lifeguard: Lifeguards will be located at Sandy Beach Park and be responsible for ensuring the safety of swimmers as well as keeping the beach area clean and organized. All lifeguards must be Red Cross certified; Open Water Lifeguard certification is preferred. Hourly Pay Range: $15.95 – $18.07*

Head Lifeguard: The Head Lifeguard oversees daily operations at Sandy Beach Park, ensuring the safety of swimmers and leading the lifeguard team. Responsibilities include supervising staff, coordinating schedules, maintaining safety standards, responding to emergencies, and enforcing park rules. The role also involves keeping the beach area clean and organized while serving as a shift point of contact for both staff and visitors. Hourly Pay Range: $20.64 to $24.32*
