"Hi, I'm Cynthia! I’m a poet, artist, and runner. I was born in Brazil and have lived in Hopkinton, MA, for 11 years; just two miles from the start line of the Boston Marathon allowed me to feel the great atmosphere and the positive energy and impact that the marathon brings to our small town and the hearts of the people in our community and the world. When I moved from Brazil, my first connection with my new community happened through the local running club. Now, my best friends are runners and artists.
I'm honored to be running the 129th Boston Marathon, for the first time ever, in support of West End House—one of the most high-impact youth development agencies in Boston, and one that I'm incredibly proud to represent. West End House empowers young people to develop leadership and life skills; succeed academically; explore, engage in, and progress toward mastery in the arts; pursue college and career pathways; and adopt healthy lifestyles. By supporting me and the West End House Dawnn for Peace marathon team, you will be supporting the next generation of young leaders from Boston.
You can provide powerful opportunities for young people to thrive and succeed by contributing toward my fundraising goal. Learn more about the Club at http://www.westendhouse.org.
Thank you for your support, and let’s get moving hand in hand!
❤️ PS.: I decided to highlight the picture of my dad in my fundraising campaign because he has been the biggest encourager of my running journey since I was a teenager. He was an incredible runner, my role model and inspiration. He taught me that courage, hard work, and dedication make you achieve your goals in running and life. We crossed so many finish lines together, holding hands. He passed in May this year. His legacy will always be in my heart.❤️"
