HCA Summer Movie Making programs!

In this introduction to movie making, each 5-day workshop is comprised of making movie trailers and sketches. For beginner and intermediate-level movie makers and actors, these programs will focus on what goes into making a movie while getting hands-on experience being both in front of and behind the cameras. At the end of the summer, families are invited to a screening of all the work done by the students, as well as receiving links to privately access the work online.

Returning for her 5th summer at HCA, Movie Making Instructor Sara Fitzpatrick loves the imagination of every student she encounters.

"It's always a treat to guide the kids through the storyboarding process and help them create completely original short movie vignettes", says Fitzpatrick. "The entire HCA campus is available to us, including green screen. So, the kids have a lot of options to create and film stories utilizing both HCA's outdoor spaces, as well as indoors."

Assisting Sara this summer is former summer movie making student, Brayden Moore, a Hopkinton college student who looks forward to returning to HCA this summer:

"I fell in love with HCA's Movie Making program years ago. When I aged out of the program, I asked to assist Sara for the next generation of kids coming up behind me. This is my third summer as a counselor for this program, and it's just so much fun!"

Students will typically create 3 short films per week. VIEW VIDEO BELOW TO SEE AN EXAMPLE OF ONE OF THE SHORT MOVIES MADE BY A 2023 GROUP OF HCA MOVIE MAKING STUDENTS!
