Chief Joseph Bennett and the Hopkinton Police Department are pleased to share that the Department has hired five new officers after an extensive months-long hiring process.

The Department received more than 30 applicants for new officer positions. Five officers were given hiring offers after multiple rounds of interviews and competency tests.

"The efforts of Lt. Scott van Raalten and our Hiring and Recruiting Team; Director Jessica Lewerenz, Kristin Merrill and Mary Zeinieh absolutely do not go unnoticed," Chief Bennett said. "On behalf of the Department, I thank them for their diligence towards ensuring that we have the most qualified recruits and officers serving and protecting the Hopkinton community."

"I want to thank my Hiring and Recruitment Team, Sgt. Matthew Santoro, Officer Cody Normandin and Officer Shannon Beloin for their efforts in identifying these future officers," Lt. Scott van Raalten said. "We continue to recruit and interview new applicants and hope to fill our ranks in 2025.”

Officer Kyle Quinzani was hired on April 15 and has completed Police Academy training at Merrimack College. He is working as a night shift Patrolman on the night shift.

The following patrol officers will be sworn into the Hopkinton Police Department upon their graduation from Police Academies and completion of field training:

Justin Cappuccio: Hired on May 20 and will graduate from Fitchburg University Police Academy on Sept. 19
Benjamin Vaz: Hired on June 10 and will graduate from the Randolph Police Academy on Nov. 15
Aline Matos: Hired on July 8 and will graduate from the Boylston Police Academy on Dec. 6

New officers will complete a 12-week field training developed by the Hopkinton Police Department. They will learn Department-specific policies and applied patrol procedures, as well as education on the Hopkinton community that these officers will serve. The Field Training program is led by Sergeant Burchard whose team consists of Officers Robert Ekross, Cody Normandin, Shannon Beloin, Matthew LaTour and Tyler Staback.

Within the first year of employment, officers will also complete training developed by federal, state, and local law enforcement on Boston Marathon procedures, as the world-renowned race begins in Hopkinton each Patriots Day.
