Candidate Statement: Matthew Kizner for 2025 Select Board

Matthew Kizner – Candidate for Select Board

Partners in Hopkinton’s Journey

I’m Matthew Kizner, and I am running for Select Board to help guide Hopkinton through the changes ahead while preserving the small-town spirit that makes our community so special.

The Commonwealth of Massachusetts has always been my home—I was born and raised in Dracut, went to college in Worcester, had my first apartment in Waltham, fell in love in Brighton, and started my family in Hopkinton. My love for this state and community has driven my desire to serve in town government.

Experience & Leadership

I have 20 years of cross-functional biotech leadership experience and nearly 10 years of experience in Hopkinton government service, including roles on Zoning Advisory and 3 years leading the Capital Improvement Committee. I thrive on digging into the details, finding common ground, and creating innovative solutions. When we work together, we can find a way to yes!

Key Initiatives Supported (incl. FY21-26 Capital Budgets)

  • Marathon Elementary School
  • Electrifying the police cruiser fleet
  • Installation of solar panels at several municipal facilities

Vision for the Future

I want to help ensure that Hopkinton makes thoughtful, strategic decisions to benefit current and future generations. Together, we can shape a stronger, more sustainable future while preserving the character that makes this town feel like home.

The challenges facing our town require strong, experienced leadership that can also provide new ideas and perspectives. We must take significant steps to support businesses of all sizes, diversify our revenue, and make major decisions on infrastructure investments, while also addressing the rising cost of living for residents of all ages.

It has been my privilege to serve this community for nearly a decade, and I would be honored to continue that service with your support and vote on May 19th.
