Attorney General Settles with Dannon for Deceptive Yogurt Advertising

Massachusetts Attorney General Martha Coakley along with the Attorneys General of 38 other states entered into a $21 million settlement today with The Dannon Company, Inc. (“Dannon”), to resolve allegations that Dannon made unsubstantiated and unlawful marketing claims concerning its Activia and DanActive yogurt products.

Revised Plans for Library Revealed

There was a joint meeting with several town board last night to review the revised plans for Hopkinton's proposed new library. After determining that the Center School site could not be guaranteed, designers went back to the drawing board to come up with plans for a renovation and expansion at the existiing site. Feedback on the new plans was very positive. The cost estimate for the new plan is still pending and parking issues are still being looked at.

Center School Evacuated

The odor of gas outside the front door of Center School caused the evacuation of students to the field behind the school on Friday, December 10. The Hopkinton Fire Department responded and after approximately ten minutes, students and faculty were allowed back into the gym to await further instruction.

According to Fire Chief Ken Clark, the source of the gas odor was residual from gas being released somewhere else in the area, but did not originate from Center School. As of today, the source of the gas odor has yet to be determined.

Reminder for Hopkinton Dog Owners

Any dog six months or older owned or kept by Hopkinton residents must be licenses by April 1st each year. Licenses may be obtained in person, by returning the mail-in form included wih the Annual Street Listing or by using the on-line payment system at www.hopkinton.org.
To apply by mail, include the form, the fee and a copy of an up-to-date rabies certificate.
