3rd Congressional Candidate Debate Tonight at 8PM

“Honoring the Spirit” Unveiled

The first thing I knew that I had to do was to talk to them,” said painter Dustin Neece, at the moving ceremony held last night at the First Congregational Church, where his painting , “Honoring the Spirit”, was unveiled. The painting was inspired by the tale of seven Marines, all with Hopkinton ties, who fought in the battle of Iwo Jima and returned home.

Neece said he was approached a year ago to paint a portrait to honor these men.

“They opened up, they shared stories, stories that people hadn’t heard before,” said Neece. “This is my way of saying thank you.”

Student-Athlete Workshop Scheduled for October 25

Coach Tom Lamb, former Athletic Director for Natick High School, Division I, Division III college coach, and athletic recruiting expert, will present a workshop for high school student athletes. If your student is considering playing varsity sports at the DI, DII, or DIII level, this workshop is a must!

Man Arrested for Breaking and Entering in Day Time

On Monday 18 October 2010 at approximately 2:30 pm, Hopkinton Police received a call from a resident reporting he had arrived home, where he encountered an unknown person inside of his residence. This person fled the residence. The homeowner was able to provide the description of the suspect and the motor vehicle he fled in. The homeowner stated jewelry was taken from the residence. Hopkinton Police searched the area but were unable to locate the vehicle.

Painting of Hopkinton's Iwo Jima Veterans to be Unveiled

The painting that celebrates Hopkinton's Iwo Jima veterans will be unveiled on Wednesday, October 20th, 2010 at a dinner event hosted by the Hopkinton Athletic Association (HAA) and the Honoring The Spirit Committee. The event will also welcome Marine Corps Marathon officials who will be in Hopkinton to receive the Marathon Flame that will be an integral part of the activities for the Marine Corps Marathon held annually in our nation’s capital.

Senator Spilka's 2010 Senior Health and Wellness Fair

State Senator Karen Spilka's 2010 Senior Health and Wellness Fair will be held on Saturday, October 23 from 9:00am - 1:30pm at the Joseph P. Keefe Technical School, located at 750 Winter Street in Framingham.

Senator Spilka's Senior Health and Wellness Fair provides a forum for our seniors to learn new information, have an opportunity to ask questions, and enjoy a day out. Seniors will be provided with a free continental breakfast and a hot lunch!

Dig Pink

On Wednesday, October 20th at 6:30pm Hopkinton High School will be hosting a “Dig Pink” volleyball match vs. Millis. The Hiller volleyball team is fund-raising prior to the match and will hold raffles and contests during the match, with proceeds to benefit the Side-Out Foundation. This foundation awards grants to medical research organizations and entities dedicated to providing compassionate support to breast cancer patients and their families.

Northeast Utilities (NYSE-NU) and NSTAR (NYSE-NST) today announced that both companies’ Boards of Trustees have unanimously approved a definitive merger agreement that will create one of the nation’s largest utilities, with a total enterprise value of $17.5 billion. The Company will continue to be called Northeast Utilities.

Marine Corps Marathon to Host Battle of Marathon Ceremony in Boston

The Marine Corps Marathon (MCM) will celebrate the military roots of long distance running while showcasing the Marathon Flame from the Municipality of Marathon, Greece, during a ceremony in Boston on Thursday, Oct. 21.

The ceremony will be at 2 p.m. adjacent to the USS Constitution at the Charlestown Navy Yard. The public is invited to attend to join the MCM and U.S. Navy crew in celebrating the services’ maritime heritage on the 213th birthday of the ship.
