Fruit Street Athletic Fields Open House

The Hopkinton Parks and Recreation Department and Hopkinton Youth Soccer would like you to know that they will be holding an Open House and Ribbon Cutting Ceremony on Monday, October 11th, 2010 at the new Fruit Steer Athletic Fields. The event’s location is 66 Fruit Street, Hopkinton, MA.

The Open House runs from 11:00 AM to 2:00 PM.

The Ribbon Cutting Ceremony will be at 12 Noon.

The will be refreshments along with a 3 on 3 soccer tournament starting at 1:00 PM.

Big Belly Solar Powered Compactors Installed

Three solar powered compactors, used to collect trash and recyclables, have been installed by the Hopkinton Department of Public Works (DPW). One is located at the high school playing fields, another at the recently completed Fruit Street Athletic area and a third at EMC Park.

Funded in full by a grant from the Massachusetts Department of Energy Resources, Green Communities Division, the Big Belly solar compactors will hold almost 5 times what a normal 25 gallon can trashcan can hold, and will allow the Town to more efficiently process refuse and recyclable material.

Traffic Alert from Ashland DPW

Starting on Monday, October 4th, Road Construction will start on Cross Street and High Street in Ashland. The purpose of the Road Construction is in order to install a water main and a gas main in a portion of Cross Street from Deer Ridge Road to the intersection of High and Cross. Also, a gas main will be installed in a portion of High Street from Braeburn to the intersection of Cross and High.

The Road Work should be complete by November 1.

There will be temporary detours set up during the day. It is best for people to seek an alternate route during construction.
