One of America's Leading Speakers on Peer Pressure and Traffic Safety Coming to Hopkinton High School

On Tuesday, October 5th one of America’s leading female speakers on peer pressure and traffic safety, Cara Filler, will be speaking to the student body at Hopkinton High School. Drawing from an immense personal tragedy in her own life, the loss of her identical twin sister in a motor vehicle collision the day after their 18th birthday, Cara’s inspiring presentation focuses on dealing with peer-pressure, avoiding negative risks such as drugs and alcohol, and safe driving.

Hopkinton to join thousands of communities across America

Please join the Hopkinton Veteran’s Celebration Committee on SUNDAY, October 3 as we join thousands of communities across America for a remembrance ceremony at the Gazebo on the Town Common in Hopkinton, Massachusetts. The Committee is hosting a “Sunday Taps Vigil” starting at 7:00 p.m.

The ceremony will consist of a short tribute to American soldiers, veterans and their families and is expected to last 15 minutes. The ceremony will include the sounding of the 24 hauntingly beautiful notes of “Taps”.

Volleyball, Golf and Soccer

In Volleyball, the Hopkinton Varsity beat Millis today 3-0 with game scores of 26-24, 25-19, 25-17. The Hiller’s record stands at 4-1.

Senior outside hitter Emma Sweetapple led the attack with 11 kills, 2 aces and 10 service points. She also had 12 defensive digs.
Junior setter Katy Cook had 25 assists and 1 kill. Katy excelled serving with 5 aces and 15 service points.
Sophomore libero Kristen Cooprider played well defensively with near perfect serve receive and 8 digs.

National Prescription Drug Take-Back

Boston— Representative Carolyn Dykema is pleased to announce that on Saturday September 25th from 10 am until 2pm the Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) is hosting its first ever national prescription drug take-back to remove potentially dangerous controlled substances from our nation’s medicine cabinets. The collaboration with state and local law enforcement agencies in Massachusetts has established more than 100 collection locations across the Commonwealth including the Holliston, Hopkinton and Westborough Police Stations within the 8th Middlesex District.

Hopkinton Man Indicted For Possession Of Explosive Devices

A Hopkinton man has been indicted on charges that he was in possession of explosive devices, Middlesex District Attorney Gerry Leone informed the public today.

Michael Fitzgerald, 35, of Hopkinton, was indicted by a Middlesex Grand Jury on charges of possession of an infernal machine, placing/possessing explosives (2 counts), wanton destruction of property over $250, and attempting to burn a motor vehicle.

He will be arraigned on October 6 in Middlesex Superior Court in Woburn at 9 am.
