Woodville Baptist Church forming new group

Laurel G. Coolbaugh, Pastor of the Woodville Baptist Church of Hopkinton, announces formation of Expectant Moms and Moms of Infants and Toddlers...Talk & Play! group.

The Church seeks to form a weekly or bi-monthly group where moms can meet for adult conversation and relationship while watching their toddlers play together in a safe environment. The Church's Sanctuary space can be wonderfully transformed during the week into a bright, sunny, and safe "sanctuary" of play for your young ones while you enjoy coffee and adult companionship at the same time.

ESL’s Seussical Workshops Begin July 11

Enter Stage Left Theater will be offering three Seussical Summer Workshops this summer. The first, Seussical Jr., is for ages 9 to 14 years and will take place Monday - Friday, from 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m., July 11 - 29, with performances on July 29 and 30. The second workshop, Seussical Chorus, is for ages 7 and 8 years and will take place Monday – Friday, from 12 p.m. to 3:00 p.m., July 18-29. The third workshop, Seussical Theater for Little Ones is for ages 4 – 6 years and one-week sessions will take place Monday – Friday, 9:30 – 11:00 a.m. on July 11-15 and July 25-29.

GUIDELINES
o The town will accept household hazardous products no longer needed.
o The items will preferably be in original, sealed containers.
o Limit 25 pounds per household.
o Limit one trip per household.
o Proof of residency required (Driver’s License)
o Stay in your vehicle when you arrive at the garage.

CAA Life is a Circus Performance and Art Show July 8

The Cultural Arts Alliance of Hopkinton will be winding up its Life is a Circus summer camp with a public performance and art show on July 8 at 11:00 a.m. at the Hopkinton Middle School. Children from preschool to sixth grade will be showing the results of their time in the 2 week-long Summer Arts Program, which this year featured an “adventures under the Big Top” theme. Admission is free!

Bullying Commission Recommends Annual Reporting Mechanism to Improve Bullying Prevention Efforts in the Commonwealth

Annual reporting data should be compiled and submitted by schools in order to improve bullying prevention efforts in the Commonwealth, according to a report from a Commission convened in the wake of the passage of the state’s anti-bullying law last year.

Heidi Kriger No Longer Employed by Town of Hopkinton

Heidi Kriger is no longer the Finance Director for the Town of Hopkinton effective Thursday, June 30, 2011.

On behalf of the Town, I wish to thank Heidi for her twelve years of service, first as Town Accountant and then as Finance Director. She has made a major contribution to Hopkinton and played a key role in the oversight and management of the Town’s financial affairs over many years. It has been a great pleasure working with her as a member of the Senior Management Team at Town Hall. I wish her success in all her future endeavors.

Rep.Dykema Hosts Hopkinton Scouts at State House

Representative Carolyn C. Dykema was pleased to host Girl Scout Troop 2227 from Hopkinton last week on Thursday June 23rd.

“One of the joys of being a legislator is seeing our young people’s enthusiasm for government and their desire to make a difference in our communities.” said Dykema. “I had a wonderful time speaking with such interested and engaged students.”

During their visit, the scouts were recognized in the chamber and held a mock session with Rep. Dykema to debate and vote on a pending bill. Members of Troop 2227 attending and shown in the attached photo are:

Water Department Testing on Tuesday

Please be advised that a required fire flow test will take place on West Main Street by the South Street intersection, Tuesday, June 28th, at approximately 10AM and should last approximately 20 minutes. Due to the scouring of the minerals on the inside of the pipe, you may notice some discoloration during and after the test. Please avoid doing any laundry, dishwasher loads or other water use activities, during this time. Any discoloration that may occur will eventually dissipate.
