Hopkinton Networkers Group Meets January 21

The agenda for this Friday's Hopkinton Networkers Group (HNG) meeting will be featured by our speaker, Stephen Balzac. The facilitator for this week will be Cheryl Harvey. We will devote the first hour, from 10 to 11 AM to the following agenda: Welcome, Landings, Announcements, New Member Intros, and Needs & Leads. Please arrive early, so we can make every effort to start on time. In the second hour, Steve will talk about "Interviewing For Success: How to Find, and Land, Your Dream Job."

Winter Track Team Members Run with Homeless on MLK Day

While hundreds of Hopkinton middle and high school students gathered together at the Middle School to join in a day of service for Martin Luther King Day, others travelled offsite to give back. Six members of the Hopkinton Boys High School Winter Track Team, Brendan and Kyle Driscoll, Tim Bolick, Nick Giordano, Evan Rosen and Josh Batte, travelled into Boston to help inspire the homeless in a running program with Back on My Feet.

Democratic Town Committee to Host Meeting with School Committee

The Hopkinton Democratic Town Committee (HDTC) invites all Hopkinton residents to meet with Rebecca Robak, School Committee Chairwoman, and Richard deMont, School Committee member on Saturday, January 29 at 10AM to discuss the new school project. There will be a presentation and time for questions and answers. The meeting will take place at the Hopkinton Fire Station (rear entrance, upstairs).

On behalf of the Hopkinton Youth Commission, I’d like to thank our friends and neighbors for making the fourth Annual Martin Luther King
Day of Giving Back a tremendous success. People of all ages gathered at the middle school to enjoy breakfast and hear our wonderful speaker, Sarah Varadian, tell us about her life of service which started as a 12 year old. (Look for a video of her talk on

Hopkinton DPW Director Resigns - UPDATE

HCAM News has confirmed that Brendan O'Regan, Hopkinton's Director of Public Works, has resigned. No further details are available at this time, but when asked, Town Manager Norman Khumalo said that more details will be available in the next few days. The HCAM News Team will continue to follow this story and will report the facts as soon as they become available.

O'Regan was appointed as Director of Publlic Works in August of 2010, making his stay in Hopkinton a total of approximately five months.

Eugene P. Zawatski, 63

Eugene P. Zawatski, 63, died unexpectedly on Wednesday, January 12, 2011 at his home. He was the husband of Patricia (Daley) Zawatski, to whom he was married for 40 years. Born in Boston, he was the son of of the late Eugene and Eleanor (Donovan) Zawatski.

He was a 1965 graduate of Braintree High School and a 1970 graduate of Boston State College. After college he went on to pitch for the New York Mets organization. He was active in youth baseball, having coached Babe Ruth teams over the years.
