In a little over a week, the opening ceremonies of the Summer Olympics will take place, but Hopkinton resident and massage therapist Anna Gammal is already in London. Gammal is headed to the London 2012 Olympic Summer Games as a member of the medical team for sports massage and will be working with athletes across all Olympic events at the Athlete's Village from July 27 through August 12.
It's not just the athletes who have to qualify. Gammal awent through an extensive interview process before being selected and is one of 800 massage therapists selected.
Owner of Hopkinton based Body N' Beyond Massage Therapy, Gammal has made it her life mission to assist others in reaching their full potential in their sport and credits her own experience as an athlete with helping her to do a better job.
She also has experience working with the Boston Marathon elite athletes, and sees many local runners and golfers in her practice in Hopkinton.
This will be Gammal's second time at the Olympics and, although she expects to work hard, she is going to enjoy the experience. When she returns, she will once again be based in Hopkinton at Body N' Beyond, serving her local clients and staying involved with the Hopkinton community.
We hope to catch up with Anna when she returns from London, but in the meantime, watch the HCAM News video below to learn more.
