School Committee Chairman Rebecca Robak confirmed at her committee’s September 3 meeting that Superintendent Jack Phelan has announced that he will retire at the end of the current school year.

In addition to the School Committee’s goals for this year, a new task will now be required to replace Phelan.

“We will have to begin a superintendent search,” said Robak.

This year will mark Phelan’s 11th year with the Hopkinton School District . During his tenure Newsweek Magazine ranked Hopkinton High School as the 381st best High School in the nation and one of the top six in Massachusetts.
