Robert “Sully” Sullivan, 83, of Hopkinton passed away Friday, Feb. 10th at the Metrowest Medical Center in Framingham. Born in Natick, he was the son of the late Daniel and Margaret (Fitzgerald) Sullivan and husband of Barbara (Beswick) Sullivan. They were married for 60 years. Mr. Sullivan worked for Monnick Supply Hardware in the Paint Dept. for many years and later worked for Data General. A resident of Hopkinton for 55 years, Bob was active with the Hopkinton and Ashland Lions Clubs and was a member of the VFW Post 2331 in Ashland. He was an avid golfer and enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren and great grandchildren, especially summer camping with family and friends. Mr. Sullivan served his country honorably in the Army.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by three children: Judy MacKinnon and her husband Dale of Natick; Paula Whitham and her husband David of Upton; and Daniel Sullivan and his wife Wendy of Hopedale; five grandchildren; Keri Spriggs, Ryan MacKinnon, Scott Whitham, and Kyle and Cassy Sullivan; two great-grandchildren; Alexis and Kaylee Spriggs; and one brother, Richard Sullivan and his wife Marilyn of Natick.
A Funeral Mass will be celebrated Wednesday, Feb. 15th at 10:00am in St. John the Evangelist Parish, 20 Church St. in Hopkinton with burial to follow in Mt. Auburn Cemetery in Hopkinton. Calling hours will be held Tuesday from 4:00-8:00 PM in the Matarese Funeral Home, 325 Main St. in Ashland. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to Mass Lions Eye Research, C/O PDG William T.
