Town Manager Elaine Lazarus and Library Director Nanci Hill wish to share with community members a change to the Hopkinton Public Library’s hours.
Beginning Sunday, Sept. 9, the library will be adding Sunday hours from 12 p.m. to 4 p.m. Currently, the library is closed on Sundays. With the new hours, the library will operate seven days a week. The library will hold these hours Labor Day through Memorial Day.
Residents that gave their support for the four new full-time positions and an increase in library hours for three part-time staff at the 2022 Town Meeting, have allowed the library to have sufficient staff to cover a half day on Sundays
The library has made these changes in response to community needs and feedback from residents to enhance access to library resources, including expanded hours of service. Staff members hope the additional Sunday hours will allow residents more time to visit the library during the weekend and check out all the materials and programming.
“We look forward to being able to serve those that might be unable to come to the library during the week, either due to work or other obligations,” said Director Nanci Hill.
In celebration of the launch of the new hours, the library is planning a "Super Sundae Sunday!" on Sunday, Sept. 9. Residents are invited to make their own ice cream sundaes, with sundae-making supplies provided by the Friends of the Hopkinton Public Library. The Super Sundae Sunday! starts at noon and goes until 2 p.m., or until supplies run out.
Library staff members extend their thanks to the Friends of the Hopkinton Public Library for their ongoing support of library programming.
