It was a week of HUGE wins for Hopkinton Hillers fall sports!
On Monday (9/30), Hiller Girls Volleyball captured an upset 3-0 sweep of the Medfield Warriors. The Hillers improved to 10 and 4 plus captured their 7th victory via sweep of the season. Medfield fell to 9 and 3 on the season.
In the win, Adriana Aquino had 15 Kills, Evie Woodbury served up 8 Aces, Elsa Woodbury and Olivia Carrazza tallied 12 digs each. The Hillers have now won 7 of their last 8 matches.
On Tuesday (10/1), Hiller Girls Soccer won their 10th straight to stay perfect with a 5-1 win over a gritty Norton team.
Madison Recupero netted 3 goals and tallied an assist in the win and now has a team-leading 16 goals and a team second, 9 assists on the season. Nina Tzouganatos pitched in with a pair of assists and has a team-leading 11 assists on the season.
Additionally, Hiller Boys soccer took the road-win over Norton 1 to 0 and improved to 3-4-2 on the season.
Also on Tuesday (10/1), Boys and Girls Cross Country both improved to 3 and 0 with wins over Ashland.
Boys Cross Country captured the 29-31 win. "Junior Sean Finnegan finished in 1st place followed closely by Senior Stephen Leighton in 2nd place. Strong races from Junior Darian Leo, Senior Cam Arnold, and Freshman Matthew Fitzgibbons helped secure the win for the Hillers (@HillerAthletics on X)"
Girls Cross Country took a 19-41 win.
"Hopkinton girls cross country beat Ashland, 19-41, on Tuesday afternoon at Hopkinton State Park. Hillers senior Elyse Srodawa won the individual title by more than a minute. Ashland sophomore Sophia Warnetski took second then the Hillers took the next five spots, led by senior Bridgid Cavanaugh. Cavanaugh ran 19:48, breaking 20:00 on the 2.99 mile course for the first time and ranking 29th all-time on the home course (since 1995) for Hopkinton girls. After Cavanaugh, senior Malia Grant, junior Meaghan Burdulis, senior Avery Sawyer, and junior Chloe Tumbleton secured the win for the Hillers. (Contributed Information)"
On Wednesday (10/2), Hiller Field Hockey captured a 2-1 win over Medfield. The Hillers handed Medfield only their 2nd loss of the season and improved to (5-4-1), Medfield falls to (7-2-1).
In the action-packed cross-TVL matchup, the Hillers defense held strong and kept Medfield scoreless 3 of their 4 quarters including the 2nd half in which they withstood 12 Penalty-Corner opportunities by Medfield. Junior, Abby Burke netted both scores for the Hillers in the 2nd quarter at 6:43 and 2:01 left (Burke now has 5 goals on the season). Great goaltending from Riley Curtain and strong defense all-around helped the Hillers add the HUGE win! Hiller Field Hockey has now won 4 of their last 5 and continues their point-streak heading into their next game with a record of 4-0-1 through their last 5 games.
