On August 6, 2024, the Massachusetts Department of Public Health reported that mosquitoes carrying the West Nile Virus had been identified in mosquito pools within Westborough, Bellingham, Medfield, Framingham, Natick, Clinton, Marlborough and Worcester. The Massachusetts Department of Public Health and Hopkinton Health Department encourage residents to utilize EPA approved mosquito repellents and avoid being outdoors during peak mosquito activity at dusk and dawn. Additionally, the Central Mass Mosquito Control Project reports that the population of human biting mosquitoes has increased significantly since the same week last year.

The Central Mass Mosquito Control Project will be performing truck mounted spray this week and into the following week. At the request of the Health Department, the Project is also deploying organic larvicide in a number of the retention ponds located throughout the community.
