POSTPONED TO FEBRUARY 26 DUE TO POOR ICE CONDITIONS ON LAKE WHITEHALLThe Woodville Rod & Gun Club is holding it's annual Ice Fishing Derby on Saturday, January 22, 2011. The entry fee is $20.00 per person and must accompany a registration form. Registration forms may be obtained at the club or from our website: www.woodvillerodandgun.com. Breakfast will be served for a nominal fee beginning at 5:00 am at the club house located at 252 Wood Street.

Please join us for breakfast snacks, a kick off program and community service activities. In the spirit of Martin Luther King Jr., Hopkinton will bring together young and old to celebrate volunteerism.

Congratulations to the Hopkinton Girls 7th grade "A" Travel Basketball team for winning the Fundamental Holiday Basketball Tournament this past week in Lowell, Mass. The School Committee has several big tasks to undertake in 2011 and each requires a significant amount of communication with the community. We are beginning work on the 2012 operating budget; working with the Board of Selectmen to schedule a Special Town Meeting in March so the town can consider building a new elementary school building project on Fruit Street; and conducting a search for a new Superintendent of Schools.

Representative Carolyn Dykema will hold office hours in all towns of the 8th Middlesex District in January.

The Hopkinton Public Schools would like to inform all parents, guardians and students about the availability of a new Tip Line that will help the schools and police to address drug and underage alcohol use. This Tip Line is monitored 24 hours a day by the School Resource Officer. All calls go directly to him.

On 4 November 2010, Paul A. “Buzzy” Buswell passed in his sleep. He was 60 years old.

Upon graduating from Hopkinton High School, Buzzy enlisted for a 4-year hitch in the US Navy in October 1969. He was assigned to training company 615 at Great Lakes Naval Training Center, Illinois, the largest training center in the US Navy.

“The Ballot Question Committee for Hopkinton’s New Elementary School " announced today that they have submitted papers to the Hopkinton Town Clerk to form a Ballot Question Committee so that they can support the School Committee's efforts, currently underway, to build a new elementary school on Fruit Street.
