The Public Pickleball Courts are officially Opened on Pratt Street

On Friday May 31st, the Hopkinton Parks & Recreation Department and the Community Preservation Committee hosted the opening ceremony of the new public Pickleball Courts at 17 Pratt Street (near the Fruit Street Athletic Fields).

Hopkinton Little League Softball and Baseball Home Run Derby Live Tonight (Fri, May 31st) on HCAM!

Tonight (Fri, May 31st) HCAM will be live from Carrigan Park with the Hopkinton Little League Softball and Baseball Home Run Derby's!

The Softball Home Run Derby will start at 6pm and Baseball at approximately 7:45pm. (We will take a break briefly between the 2 Home Run Derby's in order to change location.)

Congratulations to James Kayan, winner of the $2000 HALT Scholarship for 2024

Congratulations to James Kayan, winner of the $2000 HALT Scholarship for 2024. James will be attending the University of Maine in Orono, where he plans to study forestry. James’ interest in forestry was strengthened when he went last summer to the Philmont Scout Ranch in Cimarron, New Mexico, where he met other young men who were interested in forestry. James has many other interests besides camping and activities associated with becoming an Eagle Scout, including Art Club, Concert Band, Symphonic Band, Swimming and Lifeguarding, Ultimate Frisbee, Wrestling, and even Video Games.

Who we are: Project Just Because, Inc. is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit charitable organization that has been helping families for 26 years. We currently assist approximately 243,000 individuals annually through our 13 free programs.
What we do: We serve families in need throughout Massachusetts with necessities such as clothing, food, school supplies, holiday toys and household goods.

When: June 17, 2024 8:00 am breakfast and raffle tickets, 9:00 am shot gun start, lunch and silent auction including the announcement of raffle winners.

Below, view the Hopkinton Memorial Day festivities at the Town Common.

The ceremony included an invocation, the placing of a wreath by American Legion and Scout representatives, speakers including; Mike Whalen and Select Board Vice-Chair, Mary Jo LaFreniere and Lt. Robert Crowley. Also included was a gun salute from the New England Old Guard. There was also patriotic music from the Hopkinton High School band, under the direction of Craig Hay.

New Program Aims to Increase Composting in Hopkinton

The Hopkinton Sustainable Green Committee is pleased to launch a composting campaign to help the town reduce waste and carbon emissions. As part of this, the Town voted to fund 150 Black Earth composting starter kits at the May Town Meeting (through the participatory budget) and will begin offering those immediately.

Food scraps represent 22% of the average household’s trash, according to the Massachusetts Department of Environmental Protection.
